The Asante card turns out to be a perfect clone of the Apple NuBus Ethernet Card, so I've added that now too and fixed some issues that prevented the ether cards from working in the IIci driver. Now you'll be able to get online with just a 7.5.x or 7.6.x install plus some Internet-capable software, no driver disks necessary.

You'll need to have checked the entire Networking category when doing the install - if your 7.5.x or 7.6.x has the "TCP/IP" control panel, you should be in good shape. If not, you'll have to run the installer again, choose Custom, and check the Networking box smile

Does it need a windows based network driver or does work like any other windows app that used the built os systems to get to the network?

It uses your machine's Internet connection, you don't need additional drivers.

You'll need a client for the emulated Mac and a server for whatever you're getting the files off of. I've had good luck with plain FTP ("Fetch" is a great FTP client for older Macs, as shown in my screenshots). I don't know a lot about the software options for these older Macs (Vas or Richard probably would) so I don't know what all can be done.

Is this similar/same as the MCiNB nubus card I dumped?

If it has a couple of RAM chips and a DP839*, it's probably compatible with these two cards. They're all more or less NE2000s hacked a little to work over NuBus.

It has... A ram chip (62256) at u2, a socketed eprom labeled MciNB // 000094-609FEF at u3, a 74F373 at u1, an ASANTE NB20029 // Orbit 6173A ASIC at U1, an NS DP83902AVLJ at UB5, and a 26LS32AC at u8. So yes, its probably compatible.

Incidentally, using ShareWay IP Personal, I am able to file-share between the emulated IIci and my real PowerMac G5 running OS X. Which is really, really cool, and well worth the $39 they want. (Your mileage may vary).
