I was offline for a while. Thanks for the help, René.

@ASH

Is your problem now solved with my build?

You can use the "-qmc2_config_path" parameter to make QMC2 portable.

I created a installer for my last build(s). If someone can test the installer it will be nice. smile

PS: At moment it is a standard installer. Your current settings will not be touched.

Ok got it fixed now. I had to set the QMAKESPEC to macx-xcode and now its building under 4.7.4.. Didnt have to do this with 4.6.4 but then again, 4.6.4 had nice packaged binaries available as opposed to building it from source..

0.34 built fine but this time it only built me a PPC binary haha! Are there any other flags I can send to make to specify the architecture?? I can see MAC_UNIVERSAL=1 when its running make, but looking through the setenv settings that come up, it only says 'setenvs ARCHS ppc'.

Building a UB in XCode at the moment, when its done Ill go ahead and give the SVN one a try!

When MAC_UNIVERSAL=1 is set, "CONFIG += x86 ppc" will be activated in the .pro which is supposed to build both an i386 and a ppc binary -- according to the Qt docs, and provided Qt itself was built as a "universal" set of dylibs. Same basically holds if you'd want to build 64-bit universal binaries (CONFIG += x86_64 ppc64), or both (CONFIG += x86 ppc x86_64 ppc64)...

What other flags do you want to pass to the build? Your system's architecture is ppc, so "setenv ARCH ppc" sounds reasonable to me. But that's set by xcode, not by make directly...

We're searching for QMC2 translators and support for existing translations. Interested? See here!

I'm really willing to help with this from the IPC side (suggesting a TCP (telnet-like) console port), but my overall knowledge of the MAME core internals is very limited, so that would mean a learning curve and take time. I guess a MAME-/MESS-developer would do a much better job here smile.

I really hope this happens someday too, so we don't see, say, people forking MAME to turn it into a library... (http://bit.ly/sJntY1)

Well it sounds like it SHOULD be building both but I cant figure out why it wont. Just did a lipo qmake -info and it says 'Architectures in the fat file: qmake are: i386 ppc' so my Qt is definitely Universal.

Theres something odd going on in there somewhere thats not setting the flag in the project file.. Not to big of a deal, I just have to let make run long enough to make the file and then I can do the rest inside XCode.

Got 0.34 built and running both MAME and MESS versions.. I wanted to put it up in case any other PPC users out there wanted to try out QMC2 but unfortunately since mines built dynamically I cant do it. Just playing around with the download thats up on the website, I was wondering my those qmc2's were around 118MB and mine were only 12, and then I realized they have all the statically built frameworks and whatnot included... Now that I have a stable working release on to SVN we go!!

I recall Apple's build system has some sort of way to specify what OS version you're targeting - if it's set to 10.6 or above it's quite likely that would preclude PowerPC.

Looking through the XCode makefile, its set to target the current OS (but the minimum is still set to 10.4), but the Universal part is another matter. Im building it against the 10.5 SDK as well because Qt wouldnt build as a UB against the 10.4u SDK so I figured I should do it all the same.

It works but you have to manually change the properties in the XCode file itself after its made by qmake.
I dont think Ill be able to use the fiances MacBook Pro to test if it does the same on an Intel Mac but I bet this is why the 0.34 dmg on the QMC2 site only has the Intel binary in it. Im gonna guess the maker didnt really check it and once it was built, just packaged it up and sent it off.. Now that Im on Qt 4.7.4 its finally building me a PPC build, but the universal flag just doesnt wanna work.

I used the new build by René but the build wasn't the problem it was the .qmc2 folder in my user dir. so once that was deleted the front end worked smile
