It's purely a conversation piece, but I just checked in warm reset support thanks to Happy's helpful information. I forgot to credit him in the checkin comment, and I'd like to apologize for that.

Warm reset was always working for me..

anyway just tried a few hard resets, and the first reset worked, the second caused several hundred lines of text to roll past as it crashed. The reason for crashing rolled away, so no idea what happened. I guess there was some sort of loop or stack overflow?

N64 warm reset, not the default one-size-fits-all-poorly version the core provides smile

for the record, with latest MESS svn, now also MacOSX build behaves the same as yours in Mario 64: black polygon storm from the castle and then crash with

Ignoring MAME exception: n64_rdp::DrawTriangle: span aux buffer overflow

you might want to notice that the same error (span aux buffer overflow) now also occurs in AeroFighters after selecting an aircraft

however, the coming back of missing texts and the 64dd progresses are very welcome smile

ETA: actually Mario 64 behavior seems random frown frankly annoying!
on the bright side, I have noticed that Perfect Dark now reaches the spinning Rare logo (and then it hits the span aux buffer overflow as the others)
thumbs up for the progress!

Good to know. At least since I'm not double-buffering the aux buffer pool I can increase the aux buffer size again (urgh).

Yes, it appears that sometimes poly_manager::wait() doesn't actually wait, but I'm poking at other things before I go down that particular rabbit hole and rattle Aaron's cage.
