Yeah wait untill all the ZN Boards have their protection dumped and running in Zinc pls! Meanwhile I imagine there are a lot of other things to work around. Not that I would think it ain't one very good emu but it's been a hell of a long time mute and I really really want to enjoy the system11 SPU flawless. Besides, it's been a long time I said that; RB u rock!!!

This means that, if ZiNc doesn't support all the games, we'll have to buy some hardcore computers to run on Mame.... or wait for someone look at the Mame Source Code and write his own emulator.

Hardcore? I've had a PC for almost a year now that runs PSX hardware games 60/60 in MAME. And it's going to be obsolete by August if AMD and Intel stick to their roadmaps.

I'm sure this has been covered before, but what exactly is the minimum sort of P4 that will get 60/60 on PSX-based games with at least some sort of room to spare?

From the benchmark data I've seen it looks like 3.0"C"/800 if you want 60/60 (the 3.0"B"/533 is a bit slower).

Way Way cool (1)
Would it work to have an open ended solution that would allow new dumps in the future to be added? It sounds like you need a key, not an xor file..
And if it IS possible... would the 'author' (or is it 'the author'...) rather it not emulate future dumps so there isn't a question about it working with newer games (hence neoragex)
... (I love that the solution uses a modded psx.. just great use of resources....

To be honest, the problem is as much with the fact that Zinc is an old and difficult to modify codebase made from parts of at least 4 other emulators as it is with the newer game problem. Incidentally, the current dumping setup doesn't use a modded psx, it uses a $300 48 channel data acquisition PCI card. But that's total overkill, since the encryption chip speaks PSX controller protocol in the first place.

I can get full 60/60 (without frame skipping) in Tekken with MAME on my ole AMD XP 2000+ (ok ok, to be honest... that's not because of the cpu... it was just quite easy to hack the MAME psx video driver to use ZiNc renderers instead )

Ok, the $64,000 smf humiliation question: how much faster is the PEOpS Zinc software plugin vs. MAME's software renderer?
