Excellent :-)

And yeah, zinc's code is amusing, for an especially sick value of amusing.

You know what really annoys me? We don't have the key for strider 2...

OG.

SFEX2 boots "correctly" now too. Gallop Racer still decrypts correctly and then explodes, but bah smile

Further update: Gallop Racer 2 behaves identically to MAME. Pfft. Shanghai boots, and plays music and sounds perfectly. Incidentally, Shanghai decrypts some stuff on every frame. There's no way it could ever have run in Zinc the old cheese way smile

Yes, Strider 2 going keyless annoys me. Not having the key for Tetris the Grand Master annoys me even more.

Ok, here's where the rubber hits the road: an in-game ZiNc screenshot from Cool Boarders Arcade Jam at 1024x768 with filtering and all that good stuff. Warning: it's large (it's a JPG set to almost no lossiness). So with that in mind, click here .

Phatty. Is Brave Blade doing anything? I'm not a huge Raizing fan, but new shoot'em ups are always cool to try.

Brave Blade boots and is playable but some graphics (like the entire font it uses for normal text) are missing. We think it might be a bad/incomplete dump.

Let there be shmups! .

Hayate's just as broken as ever in MAME. Might be a bad dump - if Guru has the board around for the key we should ask.

Good job on all this everybody.

Which PSX-based arcade games are currently not able to be emulated?

I know that the Konami ones (System whatever it is) cant be done because of a "nasty" MCU (if a driver for those games showed up, complete with MCU simulation/emulation/trojaning/whatever, would it be accepted or would it be "banned" like various neo-geo games currently are?)

But, are there any other PSX hardware games that cant be emulated at all (and if so why).

Basicly, I guess what I want to know is which PSX hardware games contain:
A.unemulatable protection (i.e. "we have tried and failed")
or B.undumpable/unemulatable chips such as unemulatable CPUs, undumpable roms, undumpable MCUs etc (i.e. "we dont have the equipment to dump this" or "this is not possible to dump" or "no-one is able to emulate this")

I am unaware of any technically unemulatable PS1-hardware games other than System 573. We just need more key dumps from the ZN stuff.
