And here's a new screen shot:



The rank images are now covered with a transparent linear gradient from "white" (rank 1) to "fully transparent" (rank 5). And the rank-widget's background is no longer drawn so that the item selection is also visible in that column for unset ranks (aka transparency).

Also, the rank-widgets will set their sizes according to the current application font's metrics, but doing this "perfectly" on-the-fly would require a lot of extra checks that slow down the whole process (*), so a reload is required to fix that after a font-change.

(*) The rank-widgets are dynamically added/updated as required and not created at once, so this has no impact on loading performance (the drawback is that when you want to sort by rank and only a few ranks are actually "known", QMC2 must read the remaining ranks from the DB prior to sorting). However, changing the sizes of already existing rank-widgets doesn't work well with some of the QTreeWidget optimizations (line heights will vary a.s.o). I'll not try to "fix" this wink.

Hmmm, would look boring I suppose smile...

I'll add an option to switch between this current image and a "flat" one (and an option to change its color). This will be part of the upcoming rank-related (context) menu.

I found a bug that when the game/machine list is reloaded after the emu caches have been cleared, ranks aren't shown in the first place (scrolling the list will cause an update, though). I'll fix that together with the next major update... currently hacking the above smile.

SVN r5848 now lets you choose between a gradient or a flat image and allows you to define an "overlay color". The default color is a "neutral" silver-gray.
