another hard drive? It will run make but I get a permission warning screen at the end and then it stop make with an error. I had to move all the source back onto Ubuntu hard drive. If I need to make Windows version then I have to move it all back onto non-Ubuntu hard drive.

/home/gateway/UME/source/trunk < Ubuntu

/media/gateway/Files-1/UME/source/trunk < non-Ubuntu

Is there away to bypass this permession? Just trying to keep the source all in one place.

Depending on the way you mount the NTFS (?) file-system, you may get permission problems on Linux... there are several ways to solve this, and they are all out of the scope of MAME/MESS, but one of them is using the mount option "usermapping" (assuming NTFS). See "man mount.ntfs-3g" or http://www.tuxera.com/community/ntfs-3g-manual/ for example.

gateway@gateway-GT5628:~$

sudo chown -R gateway:gateway /media/gateway/Files-2

Earlier this is the error I was talking about. smile

Code:
obj/sdl64/build/m68kmake obj/sdl64/emu/cpu/m68000 src/emu/cpu/m68000/m68k_in.c

make: *** [obj/sdl64/emu/cpu/m68000/m68kops.c] Error 127
make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
make: *** wait: No child processes. Stop.

Testing this right now. Hope this works.

Nope same error. I guest Ubuntu won't let it. It not a Ubuntu system area. frown

Can't really do anything about this at all.

And you removed all left-overs from a previous SDL build on Windows? Try "file obj/sdl64/build/m68kmake" and post its output, please.

Here you go.

Code:
Generating M68K source files...
obj/sdl64/build/m68kmake obj/sdl64/emu/cpu/m68000 src/emu/cpu/m68000/m68k_in.c
make: execvp: obj/sdl64/build/m68kmake: Permission denied
make: *** [obj/sdl64/emu/cpu/m68000/m68kops.c] Error 127
make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
make: *** wait: No child processes. Stop.
gateway@gateway-GT5628:/media/gateway/Files-1/UME/source/trunk$ file obj/sdl64/build/m68kmake
obj/sdl64/build/m68kmake: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.24, BuildID[sha1]=96ce9b50ec9295ca195765abe2e180c95263ca7f, not stripped

Then probably the permissions of the binary file aren't correct (why ever?). It should be set executable:

Code:
rene@thunder:~/src/mame-svn> ls -la obj/sdl64/build/m68kmake
-rwxr-xr-x 1 rene users 26992 Jun 23 14:03 obj/sdl64/build/m68kmake

If it looks different, try "chmod +rx obj/sdl64/build/m68kmake" and then "make" again. Other than that I have no idea...

Don't worry about it. Won't go any further than this. Not worth it. I don't think anyone can get this to work. Ubuntu is weird. laugh

I'm not sure permissions work well on an NTFS filesystem, nor can they necessarily be made to.
