Any thought to port MESS to Android devices?

How about better yet, MESS Emulating an Android!

I've used android emulators and they really do suck by nature. I think MESS can do a better job.

My ultimate goal is to see an Android device emulating an Android in MESS.

I don't think they are ready to do it yet. There are ton of apk out there to try out on MESS. The problem is anyone willing to do it. I have some games apk that I back up onto my SD card by using the My Backup Pro. smile

But you can play Android games with this. http://www.bluestacks.com/ It just weird.

I rather use MESS because it doesn't use hacks source. HLSL can be use for the little bit of blur effect. laugh

There was a screenshot that Tim S. posted a while back showing an early version of Android (pre-2.0, with the big Flava Flav clock) running on some MESS driver.

I liked Blustacks for awhile but it uses too many resources and never was updated for the period that I used it.

You can actually root and use it to play some games but it never displayed or ran system hungry games but for the most part it did work.

Being MESS is constantly worked on there is no doubt that the genius behind the scenes would have Android better than the real thing in no time.

Simpson Tap Out had sounds issue while back on the Bluestacks. They did fix that later. It was doing matrix sounds before the fix. But I don't know it got broken again or not. I couldn't stand it. I quit using it for number of reason. Hacks, lags and not so Android. Plus some games had graphics issue. lol

Here:

You can get it yourself by running "mess mini2440 -bios android". On my system it runs about 9% speed and thus takes a while to boot smile

-bios linux boots a Linux/Qtopia environment

and -bios wince boots WinCE 6.0 on that driver.

Edit: Did a speed test.

K:\UME>mess64 mini2440 -bios android
Average speed: 4.65% (17 seconds)

Reviving this post, because I`m very curious...
There`s any "official" way to compile MAME/MESS/UME for android devices?
I already saw that MAME4droid but I mean about a official compilation, that can be done with recent versions of MAME/MESS/UME.

Not currently. We're sloooowly working in that direction, but MAME4droid is the best solution for now.
