The main advantage (for SDLMAME/SDLMESS users) is that you only need one SDL version installed when MAME/MESS switches to SDL2 as default (soon, AFAIK). So it was time to make the neccessary changes in QMC2 as well to not require SDL 1... there are no new features related to this, but QMC2 Arcade and haptic controller feedback sounds interesting smile.

SVN r6269: I just found a simple way to drastically improve the performance of all game/machine views by enabling the 'uniformRowHeights' property. And now I wonder why I didn't do this earlier smile?! This greatly speeds up loading times as well as sorting and scrolling.

Yeah, it actually is smile. I'd like to avoid model/view programming in these cases if possible, although it's definitely fastest if done correctly. But it adds quite some complexity... I will do this for the reg-exp filtered view when I implement it, though.

Oh, and I've replaced the good old ROM status icons with new ones based on this source image yesterday:

SVN r6280: Software-list XML data are now 'cached' via an SQLite 3 database (just as the game/machine XML data, see also #63).

EDIT: Note that this has only been tested on Linux, so feedback from other platforms is very welcome smile. I will test Windows myself soon, probably not today though.

SVN r6317: There's a new "DAT-info database" now which acts a as combined data store for emu-info, game/machine-info and software-info. All info-sources are "imported" on demand (that is, whenever an input file is found to have changed upon reload), but you can also manually import them from the setup dialog (see also #80, and here for my new start-up times smile ).

SVN r6377: QMC2's ROMAlyzer now also supports software / software-lists smile. I've just un-WIP-ified the related code which seems to work fine, although it's not thoroughly tested yet (and only on Linux)... if you can, please try it out and report any issues so we might be able to fix all remaining bugs before the next release.
