If those are SM5xx chips, almost all of the pins are bonded out except for 4 or 5, and i'm not sure if those extra pins are needed or not for dumping the roms.
So its possible they don't need decaps at all, if we're lucky.

What about the Colorvision system? I know it's a blob, the board can be seen at the bottom of the page here:
http://www.handheldmuseum.com/Romtec/Colorvision.htm
They only made 5 games for it, and they are all programmed on the chip in the console itself, so it's only one chip to get the entire system (although we'd need to scan the LCDs...)
Just curious if anyone has looked into yet. It's a rare system, so not one we'd want to have to sacrifice several times.. smile

IIRC Sean did decap one of them, and we made an SVG for it. The Submarine game.
My notes say it's an unknown MCU, OKI 6502 (not to be confused with M6502 CPU)

Oh good, at least we've explored it... I think I still have two of the other cards for it, so maybe I can send those to him to make the SVG of those two... Get a little closer to having it all if we get the MCU figured out. smile

Ah so you didn't scan those yourself? I asked about it a while back and you told me you'd do it before selling your collection since they are getting pretty expensive (and scarce) these days. I bought the 2 games you were missing by then: submarine which is still in Sean's possession and another one which I don't recall the name atm (just remember paying a lot more than I should for it lol) which I still have with me.
Sean decapped the chip I sent him, but the bits weren't visible like with other OKI chips so it's a dead end until someone figures how to view the bits on those. I guess the capsoff guys might have the means to do so.

I thought we had a discussion about this game before, now I remember this...
I just recently uncovered a box with the system in it in my storage, so I apparently didn't include these with the collection when I sold it... Probably because I knew back then we were planning this. smile
Kevtris seems to have disappeared, so I never got the rest of my VFD games dumped, so I kind of put all of it on hold, but I kept some stuff I knew we wanted to look into.
I'm getting stuff out of storage currently (although slowly), so it keeps triggering memories of what we were doing.
Next time I'm there I'll dig out the box with the Colorvision in it and confirm what I have...

That's great news hopefully you kept them all, let me know which ones you have when you dig out the box so we can make sure we have them all.

Yeah kevtris has been very busy with other projects so ye hasn't been around much, maybe someone else can have a look at dumping those other games?

The tabletop version of G&W Mario's Cement Factory has now been preserved in MAME smile

Mario's Cement Factory was released as a table top version (this game) and new wide screen version (already in MAME). All other G&W table top games except for Mario's Cement Factory were also released in panorama screen editions as well. The MCU used in this game is an SM511 and it therefore has melodies and better sound effects compared to the new wide screen version of this game (which is based on the SM510). I particularly enjoy the Queen intro melody on this game smile

Also, I don't think the tabletop (color) version of this game has ever been emulated before.

This is a screenshot of the game:

@JD: Thanks for offering to send over your game unit but it wasn't needed this time as I managed to buy another unit.

Scans and a basic artwork file has been uploaded to the dropbox folder

Great work (as always).

There are two versions of this game. "Another One Bites the Dust" was apparently removed in later releases due to the rights.

It might be worth seeing if JD's version is different though this is definitely the preferable one.
