The HK623 or HK628 seem like the most likely candidates for what's inside the "Echo Keyller" at least to my ear. I need to find the weird batteries this thing needs to make it run again (or would a 3v cr2032 work properly? I'm not even sure what batteries this originally used... it used two small button cells of some sort)
Edit: The Executor video above almost certainly uses the HK628 or a clone (has the 'faster' bomb dropping sound and 'faster' machine gun), I'm not sure whether the Echo Keyller is using the 623 or 628 until I can power it up. It should run on anywhere from 1.8v to 4.8v so a 3.0v CR2032 should run it just fine...
Edit2: the HK628 can't be it, since it only has two inputs (one to play the next sound effect in sequence, and one to play all 8 one after another), so the Executor may be a clone which uses the HK628 style sound effects but with 8 separate input pins like the HK623... unless all the buttons are wired in parallel so pushing any button does the same thing.

Let's pretend for a second Nintendo R.O.B. is a handheld, then I can post about it here. Sean dumped a couple of Sharp SM590 MCUs in 2017(eg. NES/SNES lockout chips), and Lord Nightmare (the guy above me in this thread right here) started writing SM590 emulation as a subdevice of SM510. Last week after I worked on SM530/Nelsonic stuff, I finished MAME's SM590 emulation, and added the ROB that also uses a SM590. It uses a similar lightsensor as the NES Zapper, so I don't think it would have worked were it not for kmg's recent improvements on that. It's even more useless than the real ROB since the physics are not simulated, but may be fun to try once. mame nes gyromite -special rob -numscreens 2 ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/pOESFJL.png)

Awesome! We just need artwork that animates with R.O.B. doing the moves now.

Sean decapped the 1st-gen Mattel handhelds. Actually that's old news but not well known, he did those a few years ago. Just that the opcodes weren't figured out until now, and now the MCU they're on is finally emulated in MAME. He made a webpage covering this, read more about it over there if interested! https://www.seanriddle.com/firstmattelledgames.htmlI think this plus PPS4/1 covers all Mattel games that were on Rockwell MCUs. There are a few unemulated Mattel LED games, but on different MCUs. Sub Chase and Armor Battle are on a Hitachi MCU, and IIRC Bowling and that weird Alien detection toy are on COP400. I watch some videos on some of these.
Auto Race have 4 different gear speed settings.
Missile Attack and Battlestar Galactica Space Alert is the same. Different screen art. City with two missiles art and Battlestar Galactica art. This remind me of the UFO Master-Blaster Station on the gameplay. Target the dots coming down.
I ran into two different videos of the Armor Battle by Mattel. One only showing red round dots and the other is showing red tanks. Tanks only pointing up.

Does someone have Ski Slalom (upside down version of Auto Race), and if so, does it have the B6000 MCU? Does it have the engine sound from Auto Race or did they filter the sound somehow?
Does someone have "Usain Bolt vs Segway Cameramen"? The rare sideways version of Auto Race.

I had a Mattel Baseball growing up. I see scans of all the chips... any chance someone scanned the front faces of these also, to eventually do external artwork? (And side note... same question for any of the other handheld games I've been seeing added over the past two years). Also... thank you... I was able to get the Microvision scans.
RELAX and just have fun. Remember, it's all about the games.

I could have sworn I had pictures of the chip in that game, but I can't seem to find them now. I seem to remember it being a B6001 or something, like one number off from Auto Race... I may still have a loose one storage, if I come across it I'll definitely dig into it... (Or if I can find the damn pictures...)

B6001 is Missile Attack / Space Alert. The Ski Slalom manual gameplay description matches 1:1 with Auto Race. Except of course it's upside-down, and they call the background sound "slush". I definitely wouldn't call Auto Race's background sound "slush" :P There's no youtube videos for Ski Slalom. There is one that shows the game running in LEDhead (an old Mattel handhelds simulator) and on that one it has the same sounds as Auto Race. I ran into two different videos of the Armor Battle by Mattel. One only showing red round dots and the other is showing red tanks. Tanks only pointing up. Ah, it looks like the games on Hitachi MCU are by Bandai. HD38132 Submarine HD38133 Combat HD38134 Champion Racer HD38135 Golf Game HD38136 Missile Invader
