I've been waiting so long for Zinc 1's release that I forgot what features it's supposed to have!!!!!! :duh:

Ok that's a dumb thing to say so that's not what my post is about :p :p :p

All the piracy that's been going on has left a bad taste in everyone's mouth, and seeing how compatible and stable MAME is there's no excuse not to get PCB's of old arcades, which are affordable for people with $150-$300 budgets. I'm getting a PCB of one of my old childhood favourites - Chase H.Q which is a great Taito car game and also my first Amiga game - Ah the memories!

I wanted to know if Zinc 1.0 will have the same level of stability as MAME and wether it will work on a PC with the same requirements (disregard 3d accelerator, just the RAM+CPU).
If Zinc 1.0 is on that level for Tekken Tag or Ehrgeiz I'll get their PCB's.

I guess Tekken Tag is the most ambitous attempt at an arcade emulation title yet so is that what's holding the emu back?

Do you have a date after which you will vow never to release the emulator ? laugh

Also can multiplayer LAN support be implemented?

(Upgraded)My system:
Windows 2000 Advanced Server
AMD64 3000+ @ 2.3GHz (64bit Yeah!!)
1GB DDR RAM
XFX 6800GT 256mb RAM
Microsoft Sidewinder Freestyle Pro USB
10-button USB gamepad

ZiNc 1.0 will be just like 0.9 in terms of PC requirements. It will not run without hardware 3D acceleration (unless you use the PEOpS soft plugin). And it will not support Tekken Tag. There is rudimentary network support but we don't guarantee it works.

everyone stop asking about tekken tag for 20 years! best thing for it is a video/screen capture at 512x480, and no awful jpeg files!!

in 2019, we might know how to crack the protection of all the current games, but then most games of the 2010's could be extremely difficult when the time comes. There's still a lot of non working games due to protection, incomplete emulation, undocumented hardware, as well as bad/no dumps, and games which noone can afford yet (like $500 for an 8 year old machine)

Hey RB,
Did you implement the graphics effects found in Ehrgeiz? I remember it used high quality light-sourcing. How fast does it run on an acceptable PC?

Ehrgeiz runs on completely normal PSX hardware, just like every other game Zinc has supported since the beginning of time. There is no "high quality light sourcing", just normal GTE lighting. Unsurprisingly, it runs at the same speed as other supported games.

Ehrgeiz, just like Tekken 3, can also use non-interlaced mode for a speed-up, so can Mr. Driller. You probably know that already but it is worth mentioning. Makes a bit of a difference on my 1.2GHz system
