The latest version of Xcode for 10.7.5 is 4.6.3, but gcc is still version 4.2.

FWIW compiling halts on my 10.7.5 install as well, with the same error as you posted, in h8_timer16.c:318:17.

qmc2 posted a fix above for H8, but after applying it, compilation stops a bit further down the road in Jaguar related files.

You can basically do the same with LOG_UNHANDLED_BLITS in jaguar.c (change its definition from 0 to false), but RB mentioned that those warnings should be suppressed completely... until then, I think that NOWERROR=1 on the make command line should do the trick as well.

Ah, I see, with NOWERROR=1 errors are now treated as warnings (notes) and compilation continues.

Confirmed, both 32- and 64-bit MAME build fine on 10.7.5.
I had to REGENIE=1 before NOWERROR=1 would work.

I made a 'make clean'. Additionally, those pesky "CCOMFLAGS += -m32" and "CONLYFLAGS += -m32" are no longer necessary to add to the makefile for building on 10.7.

Just out of curiosity, could somebody please explain what exactly the GENIE build process is and what advantages it has?

GENie is a LUA-scripted project & makefile generator, so it's used to automatically generate what used to be done manually in numerous .mak files throughout the source tree...
