This was a problem with an older release, the newer ones should work fine in 32-bit. This was recently fixed, like last week or so.

It's sad that there's so few Lynx software preserved though and it's almost impossible to find any games for sale these days.

I had tried version 1.0.8 which came out yesterday (?). Anyway since it works on 64-bit, I'm not going to worry about it any more.

Now to the actual emulator, if you select to Play TAP from the gui, this worked flawlessly although not in real time (the tapes loaded instantly). You can also load text files which 'paste' themselves in, but you have to type RUN to make it work. The actual programs seemed to run well. The source is available on github.

In the readme there is a link to a site with TAP files to download, unfortuntely the domain has expired so it's offline.

I guess that's a different problem, I just realized you are on Win2000 so that's probably the culprit. I believe it requires at least XP.

All TAP files that were dumped are available in either the TOSEC set or the Pale emulator. A couple of bad dumps there though not all of them properly tagged.

'Play TAP' was added specifically to make the emulator frontend friendly and also much easier for users who don't know the system, the other loading methods will work in real time. This automated loading is great and something that should be available on MESS at least to some extent, tape loading on MESS is a pain and makes it unusable for any frontend integration frown

If you are thinking on looking at the source code you might want to wait until the next version since Jonathan is going through some important changes right now which should make it more accurate.

I've been doing some work on the Camputers Lynx in MESS. I've added TAP and WAV cassette support, and most programs are working. The tricky Level 9 adventure games use 5 tapes, loading some of the data into the colour ram. This means the game has a hideous purple background.

The only Level 9 game I have is called DUNGEON, and it is working on the 48k model only. Still need to sort out banking in the others.

Pale comes with Floppy Disk support, but of course the supplied disks are in a custom format.

Nice, time for a new bleeding edge release. smile
Pengo, Centipede and some other games should work on the 48k model too.
If you need more tape images, contact me.

They are handy. What would be good is a technical description of the banking in the 96k (just like the nice 128k manual).
