Hi all,

I was interested in adding some msxlogo versions to the MSX softlist to make it easier to run msxlogo, and didn't know how exactly to proceed.

It looks like the software name="" is the name of the zip file, and the rom name="" is the name of the cart.

I have 6 different versions of msxlogo, NL, BR, AR, ES, Eng, Eng/Polish. Should I rename the rom files and the software names to be more consistent with each other?

I was thinking

msxloguk for logo uk (english),
(or just msxlogo)

msxlogbr for brazil,
msxlogar for argentina,
msxlogpl for polish, (has english keywords / polish messages)
msxloges for spanish
msxlognl for netherlands

and then renaming the roms inside to match the name (plus .rom).

Quote
<software name="msxlogo">
<description>MSX~Logo (Ned)</description>
<year>1985</year>
<publisher>Philips</publisher>
<info name="serial" value="VG 8103/23" />
<part name="cart" interface="msx_cart">
<dataarea name="rom" size="32768">
<rom name="msx-logo (netherlands) (program).rom" size="32768" crc="7af0aa39" sha1="47663f883f98ab9ddaa0bf0c2831c567919f56f1" offset="0" />
</dataarea>
</part>
</software>

I'd say msxlogo for UK version since it's the English spoken one, then the others are cloneof this
So for example the Brazilian version would be

Code
<software name="msxlogobr" cloneof="msxlogo">

Note: we can perfectly have more than 8 chars for romset id, it's also advised to do so assuming you don't abuse it (I personally hate when people do weird loopholes in naming their sets)
Also note: current convention for descriptions is to use the full country name, not a three letter abbreviation.

and the clones go inside of the parent rom zip file it looks like.

Do they have to be in a subdirectory in the zip file? That's what the other msx cloneof entries look like, having a subdirectory inside the parent zip file.

For software lists the "cloneof" is just a convention for grouping similar stuff together. It hardly have shared files.
You actually better off just zip each one individually with the given name id.
