Grr, another USPTO failure. I ordered the patent wrapper for 4492582, the Mattel Children's Discovery System. The patent says there is a 192-page appendix with source code, which sounded interesting. The USPTO is now selling PDF versions of older patent wrappers for 1/4 the price of printing and mailing a copy. I ordered it on June 5 with a 25-day processing period, but I figure that's probably business days, and July 4th was in there. So I sent an email today to ask about it, and got back a notice that they are refunding the order because "the paper file is not available". I'm not sure if that means that they can't locate it, like 4165159 with the Rockwell PPS-4/1 Hardware Manual, or if it's only on microfiche, and they won't convert that to PDF.
