I made sure all the checksums were OK, but since they are simple summations, I could have made multiple errors that canceled out.
MP1022: I'm not confident that the ROM data is good, but I tried it in MAME anyway. The entrypoint is $80(hex data in patent at $3C0 is not ambigious), that is BRANCH 00. So it gets stuck in an infinite loop rightaway. I tried several things, like swapping the chapter bit, but can't get it working. Either TI tampered with the ROM data, or the bit/byte order is not what we expect.
MP6061: This one I'm certain that it matches the patent, no ambigious hex digits. Unfortunately it also gets stuck in an infinite loop pretty quickly. Even if we can figure out the correct ROM order for this one, I don't think it can be emulated without having the PLAs. It uses the output(segment) PLA for a lot more than digit segments. I contacted the seller of that unsold TI thermostat, maybe he still has it and is willing to relist the item. It was only $14 with free shipping.
