Tandy Hold Up has an identical-looking chip, but labeled with Hitachi's crosshairs logo and "43380 A11LR". Quick Reference Guide to Integrated Circuits And Discrete Semiconductor Devices 1984 has a blurb on HD43380: 4-bit processor, low power consumption, built-in LCD driver, built-in timepiece, 480x26-bit ROM, 48x6-bit RAM, 3x27 segment LCD driver, 3V, 183uS cycle time, 30uW power consumption. I haven't found any more details, and no Hitachi chip that I've ever decapped has had visible bits, so I haven't decapped it.
