Hi!

Haze: Thanks for posting info regarding the comments on the melody issues commented on YT smile There's some more info on the issue posted in the info for this video: Climber video with the following info:

(WARNING: There is a bug in the sound emulation where the sound that plays when the climber hits the ground after missing, the theme plays is too fast. There is nothing to do other than wait for the developers responsible for dumping the game to fix it. Nevertheless the game is just as playable as the real thing.)

I will look into this as I have both the new wide screen and crystal screen versions of Climber to compare with.

There's most likely other, similar, issues with melody ROMs in other games. These issues can quite easily be fixed once reported but to get it exactly right, a decap is needed for now.

As I've stated before, the current way of dumping the melody ROM isn't 100% accurate and a decap is currently needed in order to get this right. However, melody ROMs read out electronically very closely matches the actual data and are useful for now (i.e. better than nothing). When the all the G&W games has been dumped I plan to revisit the melody ROM dump issue and try again to find a better way to read out the melody ROM data electronically before we send the games to Sean for decapping. I hope that this plan is ok with MAME and the games where the melody ROM has been dumped electronically is marked in the driver file.
