speaking of hw limitations, the first time I played SMB Special on the pc8801 I remained speechless: it cannot handle scrolling, so what is the point to convert a game which bases most of his gameplay on the side scroll??
I guess the game industry was not much better in the 80s than it is now: as long as you can take some money from the brand...
PC-8801 isn't capable of scrolling, at least not without huge usage of ALU capabilities. The same cannot be said for X1, mc6845 can do scrolling, even though a bit jerky (scrolls only for 8 pixels horizontally and n pixels vertically, where n is your current tile height number) And, well, there are many sleepers for the JP computers, but most of them requires either a good knowledge of the native language or a fancy launch system.
And me just realizes that PC-6001 driver still doesn't have F-keys support. ^^'
