if you uncompress the files from Apple in OSX 10.4 (maybe also 10.5, I don't remember) or earlier, they of course work perfectly well (except for the fact that System Tools are not in the first disk, something which puzzled me for a long time until someone else pointed out this simple fact )
but if you try to uncompress the files in OSX 10.6 or in windows, they don't work properly
