Re: Haze, the problem of long-term preservation is definitely one that's starting to crop up, the whole "upload to FTP and let the world be your backup" idea is really showing its limitations now that the Internet has been public for 20-ish years.

Lately I've been helping the Archive Team guys get various file collections backed up onto for the long term (example example 2). If you're interested in this stuff I would suggest getting in touch with Jason Scott ( who works at now, they are in this for the long haul, they have loads of storage and they are able to do things like maintain "dark" collections for copyright-sensitive items.
