The ROM dump we had has what appears to be anti-upgrade protection; it wouldn't allow a drive bigger than 40 megs, possibly to prevent field upgrades. Also many of the list of drive models the partition utilities recognize have a special value in one of the IDE Vendor Specific fields so until Uncle Phil comes up with "CHD gives IDE Features Page" instead of it being hardcoded in idectrl.c there's a limited set of image sizes you can use.

Anyway, I now patch the ROM to disable the protection and here's the result:
