Great stuff on adding the alpha blending stuff to the Sharp X68000 driver. It's about time emulators started getting this stuff covered - of the ones I tried some time ago only one would do it, and it wasn't MESS.

Here's some screenshots I did for Thunder Force II.

I tried to run Gemini Wing just because it was the other game, but I got issues with inputs there. When I remove keyboard in the MESS menu and attempt to use controller alone it won't let me move left/right with the Megadrive gamepads and with the other ones it won't work at all. I'm out of my depth there.
